It’s been mentioned in here already but I’ll throw in my two cents and say that I think speed is one of the most underrated aspects of skating. While it’s certainly scarier to skate fast, I do find it both easier and more satisfying the faster I’m going, which in turns builds greater confidence and control.

For sure, being able to do all your tricks faster than your comfortable speed is so important to taking those tricks to the street. All my local parks are small so when I skate overseas parks I initially struggle with more speed from the banks and transition baked into the design.

I'll add - learning to come off grinds and slides mid ledge, you got to be able to control your weight distribution during the trick to exit correctly.
Venture Truck Height:

5.0 & 5.2 LO
STANDARD - 1.88” - 47.75mm
FORGED - 1.85”- 46.99mm

5.0 ,5.2, 5.6, 5.8 & 6.1 HI
STANDARD - 2.09” - 53.09mm
FORGED - 2.04” - 51.82m

I wanna figure out a workout routine that works towards better board control so when I can't skate for a few months I can come back not feeling like i'm balancing on bags of spaghetti.
I have had shit ankle injuries over the years and can suggest an easy item to buy if you’ve seen a bosu ball before instead go for the cheaper option which is the Foam balance pads they have on Amazon.

Doing single leg workouts on ground then build up to doing the same thing with the balance pad but working on calves is super important and it’s all easy to find within the running community instagrams I always use running workouts in place for skating somewhat similar muscle groups. Make time for like 20-30 minutes like two or three times a week you’ll feel so much stronger and confident on the board it’s crazy.

Easy balance option is to set up an old complete w really exceptionally loose trucks and stand on it one foot. Can do squats, heel drops etc. stand over one section of bolts

When I started skating more transition (mini ramp, bowls) my overall board control improved a lot. It gave me a whole different aspect to street skating.

properly popped and rotated nollie half cabs. it's easy to half ass but takes some finesse to do it nicely.
Let me preface this post with the fact that I am slightly inebriated, very uneducated and I havent read any papers or done any research at all, or read your post really.

Spend a day just messing around with off the wall tricks, crazy variations of nose or tail stalls, learn a bunch of no complies, slappy tricks definitely, like popping out over the block after wards etc. seriously just goof around on little stuff.

Has anyone met someone that sucks at skating and has good straight 8 down?

Me neither
