craziest VX1k find ever
« on: January 13, 2017, 06:49:32 PM »
Alright so I started working this new job just doing manual labor at this sky diving place in Hawaii near my house. And today we were unloading an old conex box my that my boss just throws shit into. And he pulled out a pretty minty 1k and I was the only one that showed interest into it, and he gave it to me. Dude said he use to strap it to his head and sky dive with it years ago... 10 tapes and 3 batteries my guy hooked it up.
I have had a lot of crazy stories. But this tops it hard.
Maybe I am a kook and super excited,

Was definitely too excited that he skipped the thread "things you are stoked on" and just made his own thread

It's definitely not that hard to get a vx in great condition from people who don't skate, especially in Europe. My friend found one for about ?100 which belonged to an old production company that only used it to film theatre productions on a tripod. Never captured the footage on it either. Got mine for about ?200 including a nice camera bag, batteries, all cables, remote etc. on a Dutch Craigslist style website. It used to be the go to camera for a lot of production companies before HD came along so they just shelve it, not knowing what to do with it and selling it for next to nothing when they need the space.
