I wonder how much Lakai can pay versus other brands? Either as a dollar amount or percentage? 50% less?

I was thinking the same thing, they really don't seem to be able to compete. It's a damn shame too.

It is weird to think that with Nike & Adidas by dropping one of their upper tier basketballers or footballers they probably have enough budget for the entire skate team, which is probably the budget of all core companies combined. I watched a doco on Lance Armstrong last night, when Nike pulled his contract for doping, that right there would probably pay for their skateboard program.

I still look back on the days when you could pretty much tell another skater by the shoes, now I'm in the supermarket and grandads rocking the same shoes the kids at the skatepark.

Michael Jordan makes more money from Nike annually than all of the Nike factory workers in Malaysia combined.

hard to care for lakai, the team still is great, but quality wise they are as bad as vox these days. if you sell shitty product it's no wonder you can't compete.

recently had a pair of manchester selects. they were amazing. amazing for the 2-3 weeks they managed to stay in one piece. the heel fully burst open and the sole pretty much completely gone and I now have a nice recurring heel bruise. wont be hurrying back

Just recently I had a Guy XLK, I really liked them, my feet felt great in them but then real fast they became like a wool sock, no support at all and then the sole just wore out (hole in the toe area). I only did skating in them and they lasted like a month and I didn't even skate that often, had a tons of rain. My conclusion was that I would like to skate in them, but only if they would come free and I could have a new pair every second week.

Nothing worse than a kid that burns bridges. Bails on Mike & Rick to ride for some suit that sells soccer shoes? I was really backin' this kid too...what a shame.

I'm also pretty sure he was under contract, hopefully Lakai pull a Chief on this kid and have him fork over some dough. Bad look Miles...very bad look.

Miles has actually been on Adidas for almost 4 months now, he waited out his contract with Lakai which ended on June 1st. So he actually did the mature thing rather than just bailed out on Mike & Rick. Can't hate on the guy for taking an amazing opportunity to travel all over the world and be on a legendary team like that. Also hes staying true to Karl and Organika when he could probably ride for any board company he wants too.

My most recent pair of Lakais lasted me about 8 hours and I mostly skate ledges. I really want to back skater owned companies, but between Hufs overpriced shit and Lakai not lasting long at all, I don't know where else to go. I know there's also Emerica but they don't feel so good on my feet.

Did you mean 4 weeks now? June 1st was only 32 days ago...

I'm on the fence with your comment..

The first i saw of this kid (which apart from Dolan is my favourite am) was with Lakai. They really put his name out there.

But he is that good he could ride for anyone. And if it's with a company that 'sells soccer shoes' then so be it.  Imagine traveling the world with the Adidas team!?!? Not to mention the money.

I'm backing the Adidas skate program HEAPS over Nike.  And I can't see either pulling out of skateboarding for shit.

If anything I thought people would trip more on Nakel bouncing but I haven't heard a negative thing about his deal.

Riding for Karl AND Adidas.... Dream come true.

Maybe Lakai should change the approach and - apart from the dudes with the whole Crailtap kit - they could look after rippers who had demonstrated their loyalty to the brand despite not being put officially on, instead of these new hot ams who have a bigger chance of being baited by the big money.

I have said this numerous times: Jimmy Lanon, Yoonie Cruz and (now) Ben Gore have been putting more flares on our screens than those other kids.

If he's been on Adidas for 4 months and his contract didnt end until June 1st then you just confirmed what I was saying. He was fishing around and cutting deals with other brands while under contract and that's a scummy move, especially considering it was done to a real skate shoe brand and 2 icons in skateboarding who helped legitimize this kid in the first place. Thats hardly admirable. Then again what can you expect from a kid who rides for LRG? You also might wanna ask Karl about when this kid was flow how he was ready to hop to DGk at a moments notice because they said they'd turn him am before Organika and he said yes not knowing it was a test of his loyalty. So please don't questions the credibility of my comments. I understand he was offered a good opportunity but the fact that he was wearing Adidas in edits on the berrics before his contract ended and I can tell you with absolute certainty he wasnt straight up with Mike and Rick about his intentions, this leaves a bad taste in my mouth personally.

All of you guys having problems with Lakais should email them - I've never had a problem with their shoes, but I understand they have great customer service. Also, make sure to buy the shoes from the new factory, it'll say "made in korea" on the tongue.
