I think it was some sort of nice healthy combo of drugs and mental illness. I skated with that guy once in SF not too long before just kinda disappeared. Real good, real cool style. I hope he's well!

Yep, he still skates but he adopted 3 of his nieces and nephews plus had his own so 0 to 4 kids pretty quick. He realizes his time as a pro is done so he's having fun and helping the Philly scene which is a legit thing to do. I've been meaning to get a couple Nocturnal shirts to rock out here on the west coast and get weird looks.

To me, Ted De Gros was top 5 for a while. I remember having a sequence of him doing a fakie 5.0 up a ledge to kickflip out on my wall. It was the best. He was on Alien and Lakai right??? 4 star???

Then I remember he had a Coldplay song to his part and was never seen again.

What happened to him??? Was he a dick??

Thanks Matt! Nah, I hadn't seen this. It's funny that in attempting to recreate his work, they further illustrated how untouchable Hensley's style really was. He was the total package of rough/smooth/gnarly/punk/mod/innovative/stylish/powerful in his prime. So imitate-able, but impossible to carbon copy.

There have been a whole generation of skaters that rode on his nuts, and I am not ashamed to say I was one of them. I even made my own chain wallet with a dog's choke chain since those weren't around in Hawaii.

Oscar has been skating though.... He posts new park footage all the time on face book. He's ripping for a middle aged fat dude.
