Apologies if this one has been posted before but it was just so bad I had to share
My goldfish brain can't understand quite well the picture posted
Could someone explain it to me? Who's in charge of the christian prisoners? And why are they on a beach?
Right? Haha, at first glance I was like “Ha, that’s funny…” as my brain tried to decode what I initially took for satire.
And here I was reading it as the Christians being the ones in beige, with the guns, and “the cross they must bear” that Merlino refers to, is having to execute these unbelieving infidels on the beach, in front of God’s great glory, the natural splendor of the sun setting over the waves.
Just goes to show, interpretation of art is in the mind of the beholder, I guess.
