I can’t tell you what it’s supposed to mean but it’s pretty obvious someone tried to paint a nice ocean sunset picture but decided that it needed something else to make it pop. So they added some Christians tied to a rock .

“Christianity isn’t always about prosperity and abundance” is some elite-tier American Protestantism. Orange County itself summoned this sentiment into the world. Just naked prosperity gospel, which should hardly be surprising, but what a bunch of sore winners.

I especially appreciate the orange jumpsuits, which were used by ISIS to allude to countless Muslims illegally rendered into the US torture program. Of course the overwhelming number of victims of ISIS were Shiites, Sunnis who refused allegiance and Zoroastrians, but some Coptic christians got caught up in the CIA’s war against Assad ISIS rebellion and so that’s all that matters and now, in their minds, christians are the primary victims of religious violence worldwide.

And of course the Coptic christians depicted in this painting effectively practice an entirely different religion than this practice of self-worship which most American christians practice. To pretend that these people died for the same things which Nick Merlino believes in is a deep insult to their deaths.

American Protestantism ≠ Evangelicalism.   Evangelicalism is Neo Con Christianity with a strong spine of Theocratic Phariseeism.    Most Christians (at least when I was in Orange County) have some of the more mellow beliefs I’ve been around.   They are sandals in church types.

And here I was reading it as the Christians being the ones in beige, with the guns, and “the cross they must bear” that Merlino refers to, is having to execute these unbelieving infidels on the beach, in front of God’s great glory, the natural splendor of the sun setting over the waves.

Just goes to show, interpretation of art is in the mind of the beholder, I guess.

I would say the most vocal white American “christians” feel persecuted because non-republicans and non-whites exist.

I am not anti-christian, but I am anti ‘God wants me to be rich so he blesses me and you fucked up so you poor’ type beliefs. The Joel Osteen/Franklin Graham types have no idea of actual suffering.

The beach is meant to symbolize Huntington Beach and the prisoners are Nick Merlino's that are being held captive by the Baker team for kooking it while on tour.

Curious if there are other famous examples of riders missing out on opportunities because they came off as lame on their trial run tour.

Not going to say the flow kids name because I’m not positive it’s true. But I heard a rumor that Gravette told creature he would not accept them turning him pro if they bumped a flow kid up to am that was brought on the previous trip.
