Do complete skateboards make a brand less cool
« on: November 01, 2018, 03:36:45 AM »
I noticed this with especially Blind and Darkstar around 2005 they were popular brands and you wouldn't be ashamed wearing their logos, but it seems after they started focusing on beginner completes  they became less cool so is that it? Makes me wonder if FA, Polar, Anti Hero start running lots of completes would that bring the brand down? like what causes a once popular brand to become lame? Brand image gets old? team? product?

Saw an element complete in a hock-shop today. It even had element trucks. Can confirm, not cool.
Now, we used to say we put on our tights to put on the world. So I don't think it tarnishes the image at all.

I think having one or two completes on a site is not terrible, my first board was a habitat complete and before you really get into knowing about trucks, bearings etc it's nice to have an all in one board you can buy to start rolling around on. In saying this I do see more Blind and Darkstar completes around than just decks and that's lame.

What year did Battalion come out? There definitely were cool dudes on at that time. Momolu was one of the best out.
Before you say the music sucked, have you considered shutting the fuck up?

An FA complete would be a deck, surpreme sticker, a mirror, a photo of dill and a pair of black goldtoe socks.

Got my little nephews enjoi completes that were on sale.

That being said I’ve never once in my life thought “That enjoi deck is sick!”

kids and newbies gotta start. It's either this or they get a garbage board from target. The issue with Darkstar is that they also have their logo on garbage boards from target.

skateboarding is expensive. So it's better to get a 80$ dwindle complete then dropping 130$ on a regular setup. As far as "cool" it's all about what your market is. Enjoi isn't really trying to appeal to FA crowd. Polar isn't trying to be little Timmy's first deck.

Completes don't turn your company lame, Toy Machine sell them and they fucking rule. If your brand is lame, to begin with, it doesn't matter.

Yes. What's the point going to a skate shop and having that stupid fuck that thinks he knows everything about the industry help you put a board together for.

This is one of the dumbest things ive heard people complaning about on here. Completes are half the price of a "custom" board and alot easier to sell parents on. When your learning how to skate as long as its not walmart shit there isnt a difference anyways.  Im sure just about every og board company has had completes. My first one board was a flameboy complete back in 02

its not that bad I hooked up my nephew a set up the old fashioned way
Got some 52mm I had laying aroun n some mixed bearings n than just started
Getting everything else bit by bit.. waste of time

I see now you can get real completes for in any size
With spitfires big heads thunders for 190 Aussie..

Really all u need is a good set of trucks the rest is disposable

ive always thought it was weird DLX completes dont come with Thunder trucks...
I remember when DLX started to sparingly offer completes around 2007. They were all 7.75 and under at the time, but they came withplished Thunder lows. I don't know when they made the switch to Anchor. Does anyone know what Anchor is as a company? Are they a pricepoint truck maxe in-house exclusively for completes?

All things considered pre-made completes from reputable companies will always be a good option for kids whose parents don't want to/can't afford to dish out money on a regular complete. The kicker is whether they have the knowledge and forethought to go into a legitimate skateshop that could steer them in the right direction
