Wow, that IG announcement sure was anti-climatic.

Congrats to TJ. I'm not mad at that pick at all. Definitely not the most footage, and perhaps not the gnarliest footage, but one could argue that Tyshawn had the biggest impact in 2018.

But, Thrasher really dropped the ball on the announcement. Phelps staggering around and mumbling. At least we could've done more with Gonz. Or put a graphic up on the website first. Or just about anything. Between this and the always awkward KOTR awards episode, Thrasher needs to retool their awards presentations.

What if TJ originally turned down SOTY because he’s one super fucking classy dude? But didnt check with his sponsors first so when they heard they were like “Dude you cant turn this down, we already have a whole product/marketing line for next year”. Maybe thats why the IG vid looks so faked and forced because Thrasher, Supreme, FA, and Adidas knew they would collectively make a fuckload of money collabing/repping him in 2019.

Jumped to this thread just to say this, well done.
Can't watch anymore people jumping on a 27 kinked rail, skateboarding seems to have become a thing for stuntmen rather than trick selection and style.
I mean, i'd rather watch Bobby Worrest skate Freedom plaza all day than some random guy who can 5050 a 7 kink rail and throw his carcass down a 20 stair.

TJ's part in my mind was one of the most memorable parts this year alongside Glick and Austyn.
