i just started watching the bob odenkirk episode and i’m seeing that tony is now dying his hair, possibly to match his obviously dyed eyebrows. except the kicker is that he has somewhat of a fade going so, you see the gray growing underneath the obviously dyed brown hair. on top of that it looks like his eyebrows are either thinning away or, he’s going for that look that has become super popular amongst younger women where they bleach their eyebrows and keep their natural darker hair color on top. i love tony but, man, him and cab are both trying way too hard to stay young in such different, yet equally bizarre and confusing ways.

how was that episode?  Generally was stoked to see Bob push a skate.  Did they talk about that Saul episode when he had those skaters to the scam on Tuco's mom "who you callin a bizznatch"

It's pretty good. They don't talk about the "biznatch" episode, but Bob does talk about the insane pressure of the first season of BCS. They also mention the pre-Dogtown 70s skate events where skaters would dork around and dance next to the board. And about weird/troubled family history and obscure comedy shows.

watched, listened to about 30 minutes of this dribble. Listened to Tony Hawk interviewing Mark Gonzales and it was such a ramble.....do you remember when........just no thread tieing anything together.

As for Jason Ellis, he is trying to be a comedian? that is a joke for sure.

Basic tip - a good interviewer is a good listener.

I think this is the main flaw of this show. Hawk has been the interviewee for so long and has such a bank of dialed answers for things that he can’t listen and react properly, it’s not a skill he’s built. And Ellis is just waiting to talk. I’m not sure he realises he’s not a guest on the show.

Totally. He's used to it being all about him.
He obviously knows most these people intimately but he has steer the conversation in a direction that pieces together a story about the interviewee.

Which means this footage is from there abouts & earlier.
Switch all over the place.
Tricks not even yet invented.
Mastery of vert.
First kinked rails.
If somebody having a problem putting that into context & wondering why the dude is so highly regarded not only amongst his contemporaries/peers, but for generations after, I really don’t even know what to tell you.
Man pretty much invented the modern, large-nose deck config, for crying out loud.

Actually liked how birdman pushed back a bit on muska saying that sls and Olympics had made skateboarding boring. He had a great point because contests are definitely nothing new, and muska being fried implying Burberry ery is some controversial character that’s gonna stir shit up and make skateboarding more interesting because “skaters talk shit on him” is the worst take I’ve heard all year. Go feed the gophers and sell your fanny packs and stop acting like you know what’s happening. No disrespect.

I didn't watch the Hawk vs. Wolf podcast, but I did watch the 9 club one. Personally, I think he is still processing the loss of Coco. Fifteen years is a long life for a Pug. Twenty-two years is unheard of. In the 9 club interview he alludes to how the ground hogs remind him of Pugs and that is why he finds them enchanting. Ground hogs do not have a very long lifespan. What I am hoping is that now that he has all of that real estate he will create a sanctuary that will help him re-align with his Pug sensibilities and help out so many curly-tailed critters.

Sixteen acres is more than enough to create some type of version of this:

TL;DR
Muska, in my opinion, is going through a rebound relationship with critters, whereby he is trying to fill the Pug-void as best he can with ground hogs, who are taking advantage of his kindness.

This is how I feel.

Aw I didn’t know he lost his dog 😞 I take back my harsh criticism of him. I still think he’s a good dude but associating with that TikTok creature is a real bummer. I hope he does what you suggested, a wildlife or pet rescue would be the ultimate rad move for him.

Re: Burberry Ery….Muska has a history of doing things differently and you take the good with the bad…. Danny Minnick, Baby Schizo…..When he came on the scene I remember thinking how corny he was given Girl/World had already determined what was cool…..nope.  He’s always been a genuine dude and it shines through…..

Looking forward to this one as much as they are both at times falling over themselves telling their stories on how they connect with guests, there’s always a few nuggets in there.  It’s also on the guest to bring something to say… we should all know the format by now….

umbilical cord stem cell injections may redefine what it means to be a skateboarder in the mid 90s.

The way they describe it, sign me up.  I turned 48 yesterday and feel it completely.

It reminds of my sons birth, and everyone encouraging us to take the placenta home and eat it.  Gotta draw the line somewhere.

Feels like this podcast is getting desperate …tons of ad breaks, I put this on while making dinner and a few things suprised me about the podcast

Jason selling a skateboard complete made by proff Schmitt marketed towards older guys learning to skate kickers. I didnt know there was a market for that

Tony and Jason pleading people to like , subscribe and hit notifications…in a pretty long ad break

Jason was pretty bad before but now just sounds like the partying has officially caught up.  When he reads things off screen or is stringing a thought he has that sundowning look

Keanu was pretty cringe, he had no clue tony hawk had acted in two movies.

Skate kickers? Didn't see that one but can't remember if it was on the last hvw or some other podcast Ellis was on but he was talking shit on kids who were good at skating like yeah where will they be in a few years they aren't real skaters blah blah then being like ok elderly people all come sign up for my skate lessons. You even get a skate key..
Also was talking shit on the idea of learning Ollie's or skating pump tracks but was like oh yeh I'll get you dropping in like that's not actually the most pointlessly dangerous thing for an old inexperienced skater to be doing

I like Ellis, but also think he's corny and a dork. I still enjoy him. Always have.

I think that other 50 year old types, see Ellis, and unironically think he's cool as shit. even though He's kind of a walking talking midlife crisis. I think that there's a type of older dude that see him at surface level as something to aspire too. They would total buy his board and take his online course
