Bill Danforth once grunted at me while we skated a curb together. It was epic.

SK8 MAFIA 4 LYFE

I've heard many stories of Sk8 Mafia members being total dicks.
Can anyone who has some personal connection to them confirm/deny this?

I've skated with many members of the mafia around SD and at the park by Willys Workshop. All those dudes are the most chill dudes ever. No attitudes, just smiles all around , having a good time and skating like champs. Smolik was the nicest guy I've met since I've been in SD.

My friend stole Josh Kasper's skateboard during a product toss at an Osiris demo in Seattle around 2000.
Fucking hilarious. There was a video still on their web site and you can see my friend about two feet from him looking at his board (he had his board hanging from his jeans with the wheel going through his belt loop or something) and Josh Kasper is trying to be funny and has his hands up in the air like he's trying to get some product. That's when my friend made his move...
one-upping is rad.  so is beaming.  both so unquestionably identify the kooks...saves a lot of wasted time/small talk.  you instantly know who to avoid.

my friend ganked leonard's ruca shirt at this emerica demo. he sold it to some little kid and his skatemom for like 30 bucks.

First encounter was Simon Woodstock. He was wearing a jumpsuit of silk leaves.
Same day, The (pre welcome to hell) Muska. I had just received an autograph from him and show up at the beginning of his section in High 5. (I'm the one with the messed up looking right hand gesture/pump)
At encinitas Y: dyrdek, chany, mckay, burnquist, baby shawn white with his mom in the bleachers watching on, others that skip my mind
Chad Knight at the encinitas pickup-stix
Neal Mims at the encinitas wendy's
Chad Bartie at the encinitas target
Mumford at the Panickin(sp?) encinitas
rowley and arto and a then unknown jani laitiala at arco rails (rowley was trying 3 flip lip)
Glenfest 2000ish. many pros present. sat down and spoke with ellington for a long time. let me know about a new company he was going to be a part of (this is before he ducked back to zero for a moment only to return). great guy, great conversation. went to the premiere of Baker2g that Fall. same night as ellington conversation carroll is get the onlookers excited with free product. one of the guys I came with was wearing a lakai shirt, and this is early early days lakai. carroll sees the shirt, and passes my buddy a board (mckay model). later on i was asked to watch the deck and while i was had my only stolen board snatched. mj was skating in the mj2 emerica model that night and it was new to my eyes.

there are others

I handed Rune his board back, I think he said "Thanks, appreciate it."

That's as close as it got.

I don't collect autographs so I never bothered saying What's up at signings.

back in like 2001 one i got to skate with kalis, greg meyer, flo, alex carolino when they came to detroit. jub is from a town 10 minutes north of where i grew up so i would always see him and pat nagy around at contests lurking. watched patrick melcher crush one of the parks near my house.

Define "met"... does getting "Getting outta my way haole!" count as meeting a pro?

I'll see if I can do this chronologically:

Rob Carlyon
Rene Matthysen
Bo Ikeda
Johnee Kop
Justin Girard
Jef Hartsel
Micke Alba
Mark Partain
Christian Hosoi
Matt Hensley
Adam Luxford
Richard Mulder
Jeremy Wray
Pat Channita
Willy Santos
Chad Bartie
John Rattray
Tony Magnusson
Chris Pastras
Chris Dobstaff

I think that's all I can remember right now.  These are the ones I've met, not the ones that I've seen skating or seen at a demo/signing.

“Skaters are rebels” Reggie Barnes
“…If we create campaigns trying to sway skateboarders they will possibly rebel against it and go even more to non branded boards”
