6. Skate scenes become more polarized in some doing it as a sport and others as an art
exactly what I was thinking.
How is skateboarding an art? And what makes you think that people who happen to compete don't consider what they do an art? The age old question is it an art or a sport? I believe it's neither.
While I agree that it is not just either of these things, it is clearly more of an art than a sport if one were to choose. Style is such a huge factor in skateboarding and it most often trumps skill. I would personally call it more of a hobby.
New P-Rod Company becomes the 2014 version of what girl was in 1993. P Rod steals the best tech skaters from the best teams because they also happen to be his buddies. Just like with the original Girl team, kids stop paying attention to the plan b team.
-Prediction for 2033- Danny Way bitterly makes some reference to Paul Rodriguez's company in while being interviewed about the third plan B team he started (this time strictly as a wheelchair bound owner...and yes, he did jump the mega in the wheelchair) after plan B 2.0 goes out of business in 2018)
Nyjah Backside 5050's Dane Burman's ender rail from Cold War. Slap explodes in arguments about whether Nyjah is lame for trying to one up Dane or if the people claiming that wouldn't say that if somebody besides Nyjah did it.
With Nyjah getting more accepted, skaters will have to find a new little shit prodigy to unfairly pick on- that little shit prodigy's name will be Jagger Eaton. He'll release parts for about 5 years that are hated on mercilessly, then will release an "I'm all grown up" part that blows minds
Having fully retired, Sammy Baptista will admit that he has been lying about his stance since he was 12. He will follow up by saying "honestly, I don't see how the ridiculous lie I told when I was a little kid held up for so long"
Enjoi never fully recovers from the loss of Jerry. Its a bummer, and everybody fondly remembers enjoi at its heyday.
The nike backlash will really pick up, but it won't really matter anymore, because Nike is too established.
Static IV will come out, Plan B video will not come out.
If by some magical power Forrest Edwards gets on street league it will be magical. The most epic rivalry in all of sports history will be sparked between him and Bastien, who finally gets comfortable with the format and becomes the new "guy to beat." Forrest will never be allowed to be interviewed on air after the first time, during which he claims "Sheckler and Chaz are fags with their earrings and shit" amongst other horrifically not-ready-for-primetime remarks and long stares into the camera. Despite all of this, he is a force to be reckoned with
Somebody pukes or passes out on "weekend buzz"
Baggy pants- still not in.
Jeremy Wray releases a sleeper internet part. Everybody is amazed that he still is pushing limits.
Jaws retires, citing knee problems
Mark Suciu releases 4 parts, Ishod releases 2
Kids start posting on slap who started skating after full flared was released, talk about it like it came out a week after video days.
Bitcoin crashes in a blaze of glory.
