So good! Chops has been putting out great interviews for such a long time. I haven't really been disappointed in anything I've seen on the site and usually get sucked in. Idk how one of the mags hasn't brought him on. Hands down way better interviews than anything you'd see in thrasher etc.

Maybe they've tried and he's said no. Part of the reason Chromeball is so sick is it's obviously a labor of love that may (or may not) be cheapened by being hired by a mag and having to churn these out quicker, by their schedule and not his... as well as the fact that there is no ad-revenue to lose if skater x talks shit on company a... magazines have that problem.

One of the more infamous urban legends, was there any truth to that rumor of Steve Berra?s tearful reaction to your smokey indulgence during the early days of Birdhouse?

I guess it happened while we were on a tour back then. I think Jeremy?s the one who told me about that, much later. God forbid I smoke pot once in the middle of some crazy six-week tour! (laughs)

Yeah You're right, they probably have. Didn't mean to make it sound like I'd prefer him writing for a mag over the CBI. I'd prefer these stay the way they are so we can keep getting these great interviews where the skaters really open up and go into great detail. Just saying his interviews are above any beyond anything were reading from the mags and I was just assuming they'd want this type of quality.

As I get older, I think how weird it is to idolize pros as much as some people do... but then I see a picture like this and its like seeing an old photo of a family member or friend. I'm not sure if it can be the said for today's pros, I might just be older, but they really impacted the industry and the image of skateboarding of that era like nobody else could.

There are so many heads coming up and even more Pros out there being thrown on the internet and whatnot it seems hard to shine from all that gray matter. Obviously there are dozens that do,but the industry is obviously different as is skateboarding right now. I can only recall a handful of skaters thay grew up in the limelight and impacted skateboarding lately. Too much youtube and not enough youporn

Hands down, Chops is the goat interviewer. He's got those questions that just makes you keep reading. 100% of the mags out there, I read them while I'm taking a shit. But, with CB, I actually lay back on my couch and enjoy the shit out of his work. Always end up watching a dozen parts throughout the process of finishing one of his interviews.

That question is so of, made me laugh out loud :D  Maybe he didn't mean to ask it like that but there's no way anyone who knows much about how tony skates would think that

These interviews are always a treat, most of the times these days I have a hard time trying to finish reading magazine interviews in one sitting cause there's so little interesting stuff asked. Dude seems like such an all around positive good guy, totally deserves everything he's got from his career

Fuck J. Strickland, dude has just about the worst qualities you can ask for in a human being. Greedy, backstabbing, vindictive.... now add homophobe to the list.

Its funny to hear that he has only has one strategy for getting things to go his way: Make threats and hold people/footage hostage. Can't believe the industry put up with him as long as it did.

the birdhouse ad "Some people can't even do 540s.  Tony Hawk Switch Stance 540" ad was really funny to me.

Even though that is super gnarly.

I don't know how much prep he does for an interview, but his recall of skate history is incredible, and my entire life was spent looking at skate vids and mags

Considering the "Freddie Mercury was a gay faggot who died of AIDS" comment that Klein made in The End commentary, it really wasn't too unreasonable.
